Meg Amundsen

Meg knows that it can be very difficult to take the step to seek out therapy. She is honored to be a source of support to individuals that are willing to share their story with her and allow her to be a part of their personal journey of self discovery.
Meg is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner and a Certified Master Social Worker in Nebraska. She is also a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Iowa. Meg graduated with her Bachelor of Social Work degree from College of St. Benedict, and her Master of Social work degree from the University of Minnesota.
Meg has over 20 years of experience working in the mental health field. She worked in the twin cities area for several years as an outreach counselor for the Bridge for Runaway Youth. After earning her Master’s degree, Meg worked in a variety of settings including two residential treatment facilities and a psych hospital. She also provided in home counseling.
For the past 8 years, Meg worked as a school based mental health provider for the Council Bluffs School District. In this role, she provided therapy for students and their families on a variety of issues, and collaborated with school teams and agency providers in the community. Meg also provided clinical supervision for several UNO students and social workers that were working towards their clinical licensure as social workers.
Meg utilizes a strengths-based and trauma informed approach. She incorporates a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Meg enjoys working with adolescents and adults on understanding the ways they have been shaped by their life experiences. She enjoys working with individuals, couples, and parents as they navigate the challenges of life, parenting, and relationships. She has worked with individuals on a variety of concerns including grief and loss, addiction, trauma, self harm, depression, and anxiety.
