MSW, LIMHP, LICSW, LISW

“Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light”. – Brene Brown

Kim recognizes the courage and vulnerability that it takes to seek out therapy and ask for help. She makes it her mission to provide a genuine, open, and judgment free environment in order to create a safe space for healing and growth. She does not believe in a “one size fits all” approach to therapy and promises to collaborate with you on what works based on your specific needs and strengths.

Kim was born and raised in Overland Park, Kansas and moved to Omaha to attend undergraduate school. She obtained her Bachelor of Social Work degree at Creighton University and her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Kim is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner and Certified Social Worker in Nebraska and she is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Iowa.

Over the past ten years, Kim has had the privilege of working with a variety of populations and settings within the mental health field. She worked at a non-profit organization where she led support groups for children and families facing grief and loss.  She has also worked as a case manager in a day program assisting adults with severe and persistent mental illness. Following her Master’s degree, Kim worked as a therapist providing mental health services to adults, couples, adolescents, and children. Most recently, she worked as a school-based therapist providing mental health and substance use therapy to adolescents in the Council Bluffs Community School District.

Kim is a trauma informed and client centered provider that particularly enjoys working with adolescents and adults and has experience working on a variety of issues including past trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship problems and codependency, self-esteem, life transitions, postpartum care, family separation and divorce, substance use and probation, and grief.  Kim is trained to utilize a variety of modalities including eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), multidimensional family therapy (MDFT) and more.

Kim thoroughly enjoys the work she gets to do with clients every day. There is nothing like seeing a “lightbulb” moment, watching successes (big and small), and being a passenger on the journey of your self-discovery and personal growth.
